Overview
1991 GSXR 1100 M TURBO
As featured in the bike shed show this year.
This has been a good few years of engineering and development which is equally at home on the road or track.
Peak power figure on Dyno at 1 bar is 300 hp 180ftlbs, I have run it like this for quite some time with 1186 MTC flat top pistons and now turned down compression to sell with 1216 Hayabusa dished pistons to make it kinder on the road at 272Hp and 173 ft lbs. The 1186 kit will go with the bike too.
Main Modifications / enhancements.
LO wheels, that have been smoothed out.
Brembo Monoblock Calipers, with AP Racing, narrow track fully floating discs with custom billet rotor bells, fully adjustable span and ratio master cylinder with billet reservoir and braided lines.
Stock rear brake caliper with braided line.
K5 front forks, with K tech internals. K5 yokes, clip ons, so basically K5 front geometry.
K tech rear shock with piggyback reservoir.
NWS lower slung rear swing arm. Currently manufacturing a top brace long swing arm that will also have short option.
KSS steering damper lower slung in front of head stock.
Original M headlamp and cage crafted into place.
Acewell combined gauge into original M gauge pod but fixed in place with AEM AFR gauge and Bosch Lambda
Carbon Fibre front mudguard, heat shield and hugger.
Stock original M bodywork with upper fairing custom closing panels.
M fuel tank with modern K fuel pump housing and carrier, with high flow pump.
M rear sets machined and subtle mods.
HM strain quick shifter.
Billet + nylon sliders.
Custom wiring loom with Deutch waterproof connectors, MTA relay/Fuse box.
Shido light weight lithium battery.
Custom pressurized aluminum air box, with billet oval spouted front plate, map sensor.
Aluminum fabricated mudguard and tail tidy.
(Huge amount storage space, can fit drinks, trainers, locks, tools, etc as complete empty space. Very useful.)
MK1 1200 Bandit carburetors set up for turbo pressurizing with quick action billet machined throttle tube.
Schedule 10 Stainless turbo headers built to keep turbo as high as possible whilst full clearance to front wheel, clears the original curved cooler, and allow for oil filter removal. Race fit titanium end system with carbon can.
Billet tech billet engine covers with machined oil scavenge pump crafted onto ignition cover.
Braided oil lines with manufactured billet oil cooler connectors.
Engine breather fabricated and mounted in sub frame triangulation so takes up no room and looks like part of the frame.
Hayabusa coil on plugs.
Ignitech ignition system.
JR10B Spark plugs.
THE ENGINE & TURBO
Garret 28/60 GT roller bearing turbo, with fresh service at Universal turbos.
Hayabusa pistons in bandit 1200 block bored by Saunders.
Cosmetic sintered steel head gasket rather then copper.
Crank stock 1200 Bandit.
Carillo con rods.
M cylinder head which just had complete freshen up including new genuine valve stem seals.
Cylinder head studs 12.9 grade cap head style with rolled threads.
Barrels gas ported to match bottom of pistons.
Cams dialed in on slotted wheels.
Bandit 1200 HIVO cam chain, not Gsxr 1100 type.
New bearings shells throughout checked and sized for correct clearance.
Gearbox fully detailed and refreshed with twin roller bearing output shaft M style not earlier L.
Charging circuit stock.
Cable clutch pull conversion with 4 coil spring conversion and slightly heavier springs and lock up clutch.
Custom built oil scavenge pump that runs on the end of the crankshaft that pulls oil from small billet sump tank underneath turbo.
Vehicle History
The bike was built from my spare frame that kept in case I ever damaged my track / road normal aspirated 1246 bike.
I built his bike over covid times, and it has evolved into the machine as it currently stands.
It is such pleasure to ride low down and slowly as so well mannered, the carburation is crisp with no flat spots and once throttle is opened the roller bearing turbo spins up rapidly and bike really takes off.
I have even taken it around Cadwell, and it handles really well and has plenty of ground clearance.
I recently took it too Santa pod and in its present height and length it just wanted to wheelie most of the time but still got it to 10.68 at 151mph which is quick top end but itβs too short to make use of all the power on a sticky track to launch hard, so currently making long arm for it to see what she will really do. This has not been problem on the road at all, so with the short arm fitted you could do track days and street cruising, with long arm futred bit of drag strip playing or again move wheel to shortest position for street.
We can also have discussions on spares too and the long swing arm which now finished.
