Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 15th 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Bike Shed’s Custom Classifieds (the “Site”, “we”, “us”, “our”), a marketplace for custom, modified and one-off motorcycles operated by Bike Shed Moto Co., collects, uses, shares and protects personal data when you visit or use uk.customclassifieds.cc. It applies to sellers listing bikes, buyers browsing and messaging sellers, and general visitors. This policy is written for UK visitors and is governed by the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
A related site exists for US visitors at customclassifieds.cc. Depending on your location or IP address, you may be automatically redirected between the UK and US sites (see Section 6). The US site operates under its own privacy policy and terms, which may differ from this one.
1. Who We Are
Bike Shed’s Custom Classifieds is operated by Bike Shed Moto Co.
- Data controller: BIKE SHED MOTORCYCLE CLUB LTD
- Registered address: 384 Old Street, London, United Kingdom, EC1V 9LT
- Company number: 08808183
- Privacy contact email: [email protected]
If you have any questions about this policy or how your data is handled, please contact us using the details above.
2. Who This Policy Applies To
- Sellers — anyone who creates a free account to list a motorcycle for sale.
- Buyers — anyone who creates a free account to message a seller or comment on blog posts.
- Visitors — anyone browsing listings or blog content without creating an account.
You do not need an account to browse listings, but you do need one to contact a seller, comment, or list a bike.
3. What Personal Data We Collect
3.1 Account data
Name or display name, email address, password (stored in hashed/encrypted form, never in plain text), and optional profile details such as a short bio, avatar image, town/location, and a personal or business website URL.
3.2 Listing data (sellers)
When you list a motorcycle, we collect the bike’s details (make, model, year, mileage, engine, build type, price), your written description, uploaded photos, and a location for the bike shown on a map, this includes a town/address and map coordinates (latitude/longitude).
3.3 Messages
Private messages between buyers and sellers are stored on the Site and appear in each party’s dashboard. When you receive a message, we send you an email notification with the sender’s email address set as the reply-to address, so you can reply directly by email if you wish.
3.4 Payment and billing data
Sellers can purchase paid listing packages (e.g. Featured listings) through WooCommerce. Payments themselves are handled by third-party payment processors Stripe, WooCommerce Payments (WooPayments), and PayPal. We do not store full card numbers. We do store billing name and address, order history, and saved-card references/tokens provided by the processor. Invoices or packing slips may be generated for your records.
3.5 Contact form submissions
If you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message content.
3.6 Technical data
IP address, browser and device information, and cookies. We use IP-based geolocation both to route you to the correct regional site (UK or US) and for security, spam prevention, and country-based access controls.
3.7 Usage and analytics data
Pages viewed and how you interact with the Site, collected via Google Analytics.
4. What Is Public vs. Private
Some information you provide is displayed publicly once a listing or comment goes live; other information is kept private and is never shown to other users.
Public (visible to any visitor):
- Listing details, bike specifications, description, photos, asking price, and town-level location
- Your seller display name and public profile details (bio, avatar, town/location, website URL, if provided)
- Public blog comments
Private (never shown publicly):
- Your email address and password
- Full billing/payment details
- Private messages between you and another user. However, when you message a seller, your email address is shared with that seller as part of enabling the conversation and email reply-to functionality (see Section 3.3)
Please bear this in mind before including personal information in a listing description, photo, or public profile.
5. How We Use Your Data and Our Legal Bases
We only use personal data where we have a valid legal basis under UK GDPR. The table below summarises our main purposes and the corresponding legal basis.

6. Regional Redirection Between UK and US Sites
We operate both a UK site (uk.customclassifieds.cc) and a US site (customclassifieds.cc). Based on your IP address and/or location, you may be automatically redirected between the two. This is done for the legitimate interest of showing you the most relevant regional marketplace, pricing, and content. If you are directed to or choose to use the US site, that site’s own privacy policy and terms of service apply to your activity there, and these may differ from this policy.

You only share information with them if you choose to click through to their site or contact them directly, at which point their own privacy policy applies.

We use cookies and similar technologies for several purposes:
- Essential cookies — required for the Site to function, including WordPress and WooCommerce session cookies, shopping cart, and login/authentication cookies. These cannot be switched off.
- Analytics cookies — Google Analytics cookies that help us understand how visitors use the Site.
- Security cookies — used by Cloudflare and Google reCAPTCHA to detect and prevent abuse, spam, and fraud.
- Advertising cookies — used by Google in connection with Google Listings & Ads.
Non-essential cookies (analytics and advertising) are only set with your consent, managed through our cookie consent banner. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time via the cookie settings link in the site footer, or through your browser settings.
9. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

We would appreciate the chance to address your concerns directly first, so please contact us before escalating if possible at [email protected].
10. Data Retention
We keep personal data for as long as your account or listing is active, and afterwards only for as long as necessary to meet legal, tax, or accounting requirements, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it.
11. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including:
- Passwords stored in hashed form, never in plain text
- HTTPS encryption across the Site
- Use of reputable, established third-party processors for hosting, payments, and security
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the ICO where required by law.
12. International Data Transfers
Several of our processors — including Google, Cloudflare, Stripe, PayPal, WP Engine, and Automattic — may process personal data outside the UK and European Economic Area (EEA), including in the United States. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum (IDTA) or Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), to ensure your data receives an equivalent level of protection.
13. Children
This Site is intended for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed at, or intended for use by, children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
